Always new things over here. I am a true makeup & skincare junkie. I love all things cosmetics and owning Columbus Wedding Makeup & Hair keeps me searching for innovative products for clients. Not just for my kit and my team's kit but for everyday use by my clients.
Bare with me short story. In the late 90’s I started working in the cosmetic industry. Bright-eyed and ready to paint faces! My BFF & still BFF was there too! Life was fun! Until, one of my managers said take this trash (all discarded cosmetics) to the trash bin in the back. She said “you’ll go through the back area and to the right is an area that’s marked off. You’ll see it. It’s marked; there's yellow tape.”
Yellow Tape?!? Ok weird. Back I went with my “trash”. This trash was whole products that had been contaminated by a customer or discontinued or ordered to be tossed by the brand. FULL products! Such a waste. When I got to the back the yellow taped area said “BIOHAZARD” here. WHAT!?!?!?!
Can you believe!? Biohazard?! What are we putting on our faces & bodies?
Biohazard? What am I putting on my body, my skin. Oh boy. It was an eye opener. Over the years I’ve sought out products that were organic (let me just tell you chemicals are used for a reason - organic can really be yuck), I've searched for natural, well, mold is natural. That word does not always mean what you think it means. ;)
I’ve worked with more clean lines if I could. Prescriptives, Clarins, Origins and Dior are the main lines I have worked within retail. Clean? Well, many of them were more plant based so not awful. Dior doesn’t have a product in their line that bothers my sensitive skin. Not a product makes me react. But whew that price point!
I connected with a bride several years ago and there are a few brides I stay connected with and become friends with thankfully. I just keep a few of them. Some like it so probably don’t know why. LOL You know who all of you are and I adore you! Kate is one of my first brides, maybe my second or third year of business. She was a stunning bride. Then the next year her gorgeous sister got married! I kept these two in my circle.
Kate partnered with Beautycounter a while ago & it piqued my interest but honestly I don’t have time to do direct sales so I think at some point I bought something & I loved it. Oh here comes the slippery slope.
